Citizen Science (not just) for Yachties!

If you enjoy sailing, you are likely to have a connection with the ocean. This talk will introduce you to opportunities to engage more deeply with the marine environment and support ocean conservation by collecting data for citizen science projects that are ideally suited for time spent at sea and along coasts.

Charlotte is an experienced short-handed sailor who describes herself as a Marine Citizen. Her work with the sail training organisation Pelican of London allows her to follow her passion to give something back to the ocean. She started her career in project engineering, retrained as an environmental scientist and undertook research in marine biogeochemistry before taking up a lectureship at the University of Plymouth. In 2021, Charlotte left academia to set up the consultancy Challenging Habitat to work as a freelance scientist who specialises in science communication, education and research.

Open to club members and visitors.  Free.

Charlotte will be joining us on Zoom.   We will still be meeting at The Binfield Club so please come along if you can.
