Social Scene

The RBYC Members are a social lot and when we can't be on boats sailing, our social events provide a range of distractions throughout the year for club members and their families.

Ranging from club night talks from external visitors (we had a talk from a Red Funnel Captain) or from club members with a passion to share their knowledge (eg Astro-navigation) they all provide an opportunity to mix with like-minded sailors. We also offer a series of social events:

Upcoming events

04 Jun 2013 20:00 • Jack O'Newbury Skittle Alley

An Annual Dinner and Dance typically in February where we make awards, some serious and some not so serious and dress up in smart gear, leaving the oilskins in the cupboard for a night.

Skittles evening held at our usual meet pub in Binfield - a great night to enjoy the company of your fellow sailors over a light supper and a few drinks in informal surroundings.

held in February each year.  This is the night we elect our club Officers and Committee followed by a quiz to test your general & sailing knowledge.

All social events can be booked in Cruising, Social and Training Events  and pay on line too.

Club Night Meetings can vary from month to month.  We love external speakers who visit us to enlighten us with their life on the high seas and past guests have included Tom Cuncliffe, David Maxwell, a Honorary Member of The RBYC telling us all about the subject of Astro Navigation and a talk from the  International Guild of Knot Tyers who entertained us with their uses of Lines, Warps, Sheets and Halyards and any other name for a bit of 'rope' that we had not thought of!

Should you be keen to see a particular social event, want to give a talk at a Club Night or want to organise a club event for the benefit of the Members and their Families, please email Maralyn Waterman and we would love to get your feedback and input!

Why not come along to one of our regular member evenings on the first Tuesday of the month at The Jack O'Newbury Public House, Skittles Bar, Terrace Road North, Binfield, Berkshire. RG42 5PH.    From 20:30 Hrs.
