Cruising                                                                                       

The 2010 cruising events are booking up fast and we have some exciting plans for this year so book early to avoid disappointment.  

The RBYC sailing calendar runs from March to December with a trip in February for the skippers to sail together. We have at least one cruising event each month, chartering boats from a variety of places.  In 2010 we have expanded this to offer more variety and more trips.  The cost of each trip is split between the number of people who attend but the typical amount paid is between £140 and £200 per person for a weekend. The boats are not overloaded with usually six people being allocated to a 38' boat.

Any bareboat trips are skippered by one of our Club Skippers, who are at the level of Coastal Skipper or above. Members are actively encouraged to take part in all aspects of running a boat including navigation, helming and close quarters handling.

We do have a some highly experienced sailors as members but we also understand and remember we all had to start somewhere and complete novices are very welcome.  Our focus is very much about giving people the opportunity to share and learn in our experiences and learn the skills of sailing.     

For 2010, there is strong focus on training with a variety of different sailing options to try throughout the year.  We have a few light hearted trips as well and a warm break planned for our annual week away.  Most trips are run over a weekend from Friday evening from about 7 p.m. to Sunday at 5 p.m.
